Christmas illumination, which decorates the city every year, is a real attraction – its fans are both tourists coming to the city and residents of the capital. This year, due to the pandemic, the city authorities decided to offer a limited form of holiday attractions. Nevertheless, there are surprises for the visitors – this year, apart from the traditional illuminations in the Old Town, Castle Square, the Royal Route and in Wilanów, it will also be possible to admire the Christmas decorations at … Białołęka District.

The length of last year’s spectacular illumination was over 20 kilometers. It included the Royal Route from Plac Zamkowy through Krakowskie Przedmieście, Nowy Świat, Plac Trzech Krzyży and Aleje Ujazdowskie to the Belweder Palace. This year, as a result of savings planned by the city authorities, it will be replaced by decorations on the section from the de Gaulle roundabout to the Castle Square.

START IN DECEMBER

Christmas Illumination in Warsaw will be launched on the weekend of 5-6 December. It is then that the Christmas tree on Castle Square and the Royal Route will be lit up. Traditionally, there will be decorations on trees and lanterns, as well as free-standing installations that will delight both the youngest and those a little older.

Fans of the festive mood should definitely go for an evening stroll around Warsaw’s Old Town. Christmas decorations will appear on the streets of Piwna, Świętojańska, Old Town Square, Nowomiejska, Freta, New Town Square, Kościelna, up to Podzamcze.

THE ROYAL GARDEN OF LIGHT IN WILANÓW

As every year, you can see the Royal Garden of Light in Wilanów at the earliest. Lights surrounding trees and other illuminations are the perfect solution for a walk on a gray, cloudy day. You can admire, among others A 75-meter luminous tunnel in which we listen to classical music, an illuminated pergola guarded by eagles and the King’s Winter Garden. This year, the organizers are also announcing surprises – the biggest one is the new part of the exhibition, which is to debut at the beginning of December – the Rose Garden. The exhibition is open daily from 4PM to 9PM.

NEW ATTRACTIONS IN BIAŁOŁĘKA DISTRICT

This year, the illuminations in Białołęka will be new. The decorations will appear at the intersections with Myśliborska, Ćmielowska, Mehoffera and Hanki Ordonówny streets. All decorations are to be ready in the first week of December.
