In our #LionsRecommend series, we show you Warsaw with our eyes - a city of parks, history and inspiring places. This time we would like to invite you for a walk around Warsaw's favorite park!

The Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw is a historic garden with many cultural monuments. Established in the 18th century, it used to be the summer residence of King Stanisław August. Today they are the most famous park in Warsaw, covering an area of approx. 76 ha.

A moment of respite among the greenery

Sunday walks among paths and tree alleys surrounded by shrubs and flowers are a spring-summer ritual of many Warsaw residents. They are eager to visit the Royal, Romantic and Modernist Gardens located in the Łazienki Park. In summer, you can relax in the area with deckchairs located near the New Orangery, and take advantage of the gastronomic offer of the prestigious Belvedere Restaurant located in the park. Royal Łazienki offers space both for an afternoon relaxation with a book with singing birds, as well as for a spring family picnic. In the park, you can observe squirrels that willingly accept nuts from walkers, as well as delightful peacocks.

Royal Łazienki is the favorite resting place of many Warsaw residents. While relaxing in the bosom of nature, you can also see such pearls of European architecture as:

Palace on the Isle

Originally a baroque bathhouse, built according to a design by Tylman van Gameren in the years 1683-1689. The palace complex is situated on an artificial island surrounded by a pond. It is connected to the mainland by two pillar-topped bridges. There is also an Amphitheater by the lake, and before the palace was rebuilt in 1767, a French garden was created nearby. In the Palace on the Island, you can admire the magnificent Picture Gallery, which includes the works of the greatest masters of painting.

Old Orangery

There you can admire the Royal Sculpture Gallery with plaster copies of the most famous sculptures of the ancient world and the Gallery of Polish Sculpture with the works of almost all the most outstanding Polish artists from the beginning of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. Today, the Old Orangery also serves as a place where all events – galas, concerts, conferences and even wedding ceremonies. It is also worth seeing the Royal Theater located in the Old Orangery – one of the few original 18th-century court theaters in Europe.

Chopin Monument

It was officially unveiled in 1926 and was completely destroyed during World War II. After its reconstruction, from 1959, Sunday Chopin concerts are regularly organized at the monument. Every Sunday, from May to September, both Warsaw residents and tourists from all over the world visit the Royal Łazienki in crowds to listen to recitals of the world’s best pianists. In 2020, due to the epidemic, the event was transferred to the Internet for the first time in history. However, this did not discourage fans who willingly participated in concerts using an online connection.
